ELECTRONIC DEVICES Students are NOT allowed to have cellular phones or recording/playing devices such as CD players, walkmans, game boys, etc., on school campus, or on the school bus.
Any electronic device brought to school must be checked in at the office and will be released at the end of the day. If the device is otherwise found at school, the device will be confiscated and held for parent pick up.
The school will NOT be responsible for or involved in restitution of any stolen or lost electronic device brought to campus.
TEXTBOOKS AND DAILY PLANNER There is a one-time fee that the school asks for at the time of registration. Students will be issued textbooks and student planner for use at school.
Students need to have their Daily Planner every day to participate in the learning experience at school. Students will be required to purchase a new planner for $10.00 if theirs is lost or misplaced. It will be considered as their pass to use facilities and move throughout the school.
Parents and students are responsible for all books placed in their care whether at school or checked out to go home.
Any library books checked out by a student from the public library is also the responsibility of the parent and student.
Teachers will utilize an in -class text book check in/out procedure at the beginning of the year and/or when new students enroll. At the end of each school year teachers will be required to turn in an inventory list of all text books to the principal prior to end of year check out. Any textbooks not accounted for will be paid for by the parents or final report cards will not be released.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Students have an opportunity to be involved in a variety of sports through resources we have in our community. Only currently enrolled students may attend school-sponsored activities.
Students who have discipline referrals and/or are suspended from school WILL NOT be allowed to participate in school-sponsored activities such as dances, carnivals, student council, sporting events, cheer, etc.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT Avalon encourages students to participate in student government. At the beginning of each semester, students will have an opportunity to participate on the student council.
Student council members are involved in planning middle school dances, school activities, field trips and fundraisers in partnership with the administration and the Parent/Teacher Council.
Participation in student government can be dependent upon grades and behavior. Student government is for grades 5th-8th.
